Looking after your jewellery

Costume Jewellery
Please note that costume jewellery will discolour especially metal based items. Time for discolouration will depend on their use and the environment in which they are worn or stored.

Looking after your Jewellery
Always remove your jewellery before bathing, showering, swimming, washing your hands or doing the dishes.
Moisture, soaps, hand and body cream, and chlorine will cause the jewellery to become dull and discoloured. Never leave jewellery over a long period of time in extreme heat and sunlight, as these conditions could cause colours to fade especially in acrylic and enamel jewellery. Jewellery and water do not mix well. Avoid leaving it in moist bathrooms, in a wet pile after swimming or showering.
Do not spray anything with alcohol content e.g. perfumes, hairspray etc when wearing your jewellery. This can cause costume metals to tarnish.
Jewellery should be stored in a dark, dry box or pouch – adding a piece of plain chalk to absorb any moisture.
Clean your jewellery using a soft dry cloth, never submerge in water or cleaning solutions.
